It all started in my basement. In the early start up days, I cleared out a portion of my basement and officially declared it the ‘World Headquarters of Brexis, Inc.’ I hired my first Brexis Team Member, Joe Motta, who is still with us today. This low rent option was ideal for several years until I struggled with the noise of the vacuum cleaner, the dog running above on the hardwood floors, or the kids returning from school midafternoon. These early years allowed me to establish our one and only phone number, the incorporation of our business name, and the vision for the future. 2000-2004
Next came shared office space. My next move was to a one-room office in Warrenville. This was the first place where I could actually leave the business at night by turning off the light and locking the door behind me. Our business continued to grow, and we continued to hire more and more team members. We were in this one-room office for 13 months when we had a chance to bring on a new client and take over their existing office space at the same time. This was a win-win for both of us. 2004-2005
Our next stop was Centre Point Circle in Naperville. Here we had our own leased space, complete with an office, office cubicles, conference room table, and a small warehouse with a dock. Our business was tripling in revenue year over year and we quickly outgrew this space. 2005-2007
Our business really took off in our Naperville office on West 5th Ave. I nervously signed a 5-year lease with a 5-year extension. We had a 4000 square foot facility, nice office space, and a beautiful big warehouse. We secured pallet racking and a forklift. We had access to a dock and had a nice big overhead door to the warehouse. The amount of team members grew steadily along with more and more clients. During our 12 years here we opened our Chicago office and bought a facility in Portage, IN to open our 3rd location. Once again, we outgrew our space and bought our own building in Winfield, IL. 2007-2019
Our headquarters are now in Winfield. This 6,000 square foot building gave us more room to park our ever-growing fleet of refrigerated box trucks and house our team of drivers. Business continues to flourish and I’m grateful. 2019-Today
As we continue to grow, we will be on the lookout for our next location to expand into. Meantime, we will enjoy our current surrounding and appreciate what it has to offer. I look forward to the next 20 years and what it will bring Brexis.
